Sun

Sun – More than six hours of sun a day during the growing season
Partial Shade – Dappled shade all day, or up to six hours of sun a day during the growing season
Shade – Under the shade of structures or dense leaf cover during the growing season

Drainage

Well-draining – Water readily is absorbed by the soil, or the soil is well-sloped
Medium – Water puddles on the soil surface for several hours before being absorbed
Slow – Water puddles on the soil surface for a day or more before being absorbed

Water

Moist -The plant should be kept continuously moist, though not necessarily soggy
Regular -Water every one to two weeks
Occasional – Water every three to five weeks
Naturalize – The plant will survive without supplemental water.  Water may be needed during the rainy season during dry years.
