Description

‘Elizabeth’ is a selection of this rare shrub taken by Wayne Roderick, intrepid plant enthusiast of an earlier generation. It was chosen for its compact size and abundant bloom. It slowly grows to a vase-shaped form about six feet tall, three wide. Two plants in the ground at my growing site are about three feet tall after about five years. They are fully naturalized and receive a few hours of sun during the growing season. These plants have thrived though more sun would result in a more generous bloom. Slightly acidic soil is said to be best, but not necessary. The plant goes semi-dormant in the late summer, with many yellow leaves.
