Description
This attractive ceanothus selection was identified by John Dourley of Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (now California Botanic Garden) in Claremont. It grows as a large mounding shrub up to ten feet or so, with smooth, lance-shaped leaves. The leaves have a matte, almost waxy upper surface. The flower clusters are about two inches long and sky blue. These appear in early spring in Santa Clara County, climate zone 15. This selection is said to be fast growing by some, but the plants I work with have grown at a moderate rate, similar to ‘Concha.’ This selection has proven adaptable to a variety of growing conditions and should be considered where room allows for its luxuriant growth.
