Description

The griseus variety of the blueblossom, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, grows along the coast from Mendocino County down to Point Conception in Santa Barbara County. The variation in form, leaf color and size, and flower color is quite remarkable. This has resulted in many popular selections over the years. The ‘Bamico’ selection grows as a mounding shrub to about four feet with dark green, textured leaves and prominent violet flowers in late winter. Provide some afternoon shade away from the coast, and perhaps occasional water.
