Description
This little mint is an occasional discovery in the Peninsular Ranges of Orange and San Diego Counties and Baja, Mexico. It grows as an open, upright perennial with round, fragrant leaves. The flowers are tubular and paper white. In appearance and fragrance it is much like its smaller and more widespread cousin, yerba buena. San Miguel savory grows at high elevations in rocky soils, often among other plants. Regular water and well-draining soil suit it best, as would some protection from the afternoon sun. This rare plant also does well in a pot.
