Description
This little perennial is native to eastern Sierra Nevada and Great Basin in California. A typical growing site is rocky, dry and sunny. The winters are quite cold and relatively dry compared to Mediterranean California. Plants from this type of climate are something of an experiment when grown at lower elevations. Desert yellow fleabane grows as a small tuft of gray-green linear leaves. It is inconspicuous until the yellow daisy flowers rise above the leaves in the spring. The bloom may be extended by removing the spent flowers. Plant in a sunny spot with excellent drainage and plenty of sun.
